A complex little room to renovate.

How to optimize a bathroom renovation?

The bathroom is often the smallest room in the house. Yet it’s also the most difficult to renovate, for a variety of reasons. Whether adding a shower, enlarging a bathroom or integrating a corner bath, any bathroom renovation requires solid expertise. Ten extra square feet in a bathroom can make the difference between a barely functional room and a comfortable powder room.

Imagine your dream bathroom, inspired by some of the projects we’ve completed!

Whether it’s adding a shower, enlarging a bathroom, or making it more functional, we offer original and personalized alternatives that are well adapted to our customers’ needs when it comes to designing a bathroom renovation project.

Our bathroom projects

1- Rosemont : A real bathroom

We created this new bathroom as part of a duplex-to-cottage conversion. We used one of the upstairs bedrooms to add this bathroom.

Uncluttered comfort with no frills

We suggested to the owners that they retain the room’s abundant windows to showcase the bathtub. The shower and sink are more discreet, while remaining functional and well integrated into the overall design.
Converting a duplex into a cottage requires careful planning to estimate costs. Our design-build team is ideally placed to advise you.

2- Hochelaga: An Italian-style bathroom for the 21st century

This uncluttered, unusual bathroom remains highly functional. The Italian-style shower is an interesting concept that works well in small spaces, allowing access to the shower without obstacles or even a threshold.

Simple, user-friendly choices

The design of this bathroom is very simple. This is a bare bathroom, with no window or shower curtains, and no superfluous accessories. Horizontal fenestration provides plenty of light while protecting occupants’ privacy. The linear wooden countertop adds a warm touch to this Zen concept. The horizontal mirror also does a good job of visually enlarging the space and increasing the brightness of the area.

We carried out this work as part of a more comprehensive renovation project, including an extension where the bathroom was located.

3- Mercier-Hochelaga: An uncluttered bathroom

The cramped space and colors in shades of gray and dark brown made this windowless bathroom even darker. The owners wanted to air out the space a little, but there were major constraints, as there was no question of enlarging the bathroom or moving the sanitaryware.

A livelier space

In this case, the choice of products and accessories was decisive in creating a more open, luminous and pleasant space. The glass partition and white ceramics matching the bathtub and countertop first cleared the space, making it brighter. Then, the use of a circular mirror and dynamic ceramics helped make the space more fluid and lively.

Now the bathroom looks and feels more like home. We worked to a very tight schedule to limit the inconvenience of renovating a master bathroom in a condo. Our team completed the job in just one month, with no unexpected surprises or delays, and on budget.

The quality of our work is our main concern, and to achieve this we maintain good communication with our customers, responding promptly to their messages. The courtesy of our employees is also much appreciated, as it helps to maintain a cordial atmosphere during the worksite.

4- Rosemont : An airy Italian-style bathroom

The bathroom in this townhouse had been designed with a corner bathtub that used a lot of space unnecessarily, and a narrow shower that was difficult to move around in. The bathtub and shower required major corrections in terms of design, access and maintenance.

Our team completely rethought the layout and styling to achieve a more open space and a more contemporary look. The change is spectacular.

An Italian-style concept

With its Italian-style design, the bathtub shares a common space with the shower, optimizing available space while creating a highly contemporary design.

The layout now matches the owners’ objectives, with its easy-access freestanding bath, large ceramic shower, two sinks and more airy space.

5- Ahuntsic: A personalized bathroom

Although fairly recent and in good condition, the bathroom in this condo building didn’t correspond to our customer’s taste, who wanted his bathroom to reflect his personality. He really liked the Georgian style and had already ordered his faucets to make sure he got the right design with its gold finish.

The main challenge for the designer was to respect this style while adding a contemporary touch. For our technical team, the main challenge was to find a way of integrating a bathtub and shower into the limited space available.

We also quickly realized that we were missing parts for the installation of the imported faucets supplied by the customer, and the lead times for receiving these non-standard parts were unreasonable. Our technical team was able to find a solution with other parts to complete the job in just 5 weeks.

An original success story

Gold fittings were the initial design element. Our designer therefore chose a matching hardware. The use of Muraluxe decorative wall panels in the shower really sets this bathroom apart. The use of a sliding door integrated into the partition also made the bathroom more user-friendly.

The homeowner now feels right at home, with a bathroom to his liking. That’s what the work was all about, and our team is proud of a job well done.

6- Boucherville: Saying “goodbye” to the podium bath of the 1980s

The podium baths from the ’80s took up a lot of space, and access to them was impractical for cleaning or washing children. The owners of this house had hardly used it for years. Instead, they dreamed of a pleasant shower and an easily accessible bathtub.

A more functional space

By removing the podium bath, we were able to free up enough space to fit a spacious shower and a bathtub that are both attractive, practical and comfortable.

Our designer is familiar with all types of bathroom, with their advantages and disadvantages. We’re here to give you practical advice and help you make a sound investment in your work.

7- Ville Marie: A soothing bathroom like a spa

The old bathroom in this Montreal condo was cold and impersonal. What’s more, the narrow bathtub didn’t suit the owner and her son, who mainly used the shower. The owner wanted a large shower, more storage and a Scandinavian spa-like design so she could relax when she entered the bathroom.

As this was an old 1909 building with a concrete floor, the main constraint for our designer was to retain the location of the toilet and shower so as not to relocate the plumbing.

Soothing, flowing design

To achieve a Scandinavian design, our designer suggested making the vanity, mirror frame and vertical storage in distressed wood. She then suggested topping the vanity with a synthetic stone sink that adds a rustic spa touch. A few plants, a large glass shower and sleek faucets give the whole a contemporary yet warm design.

Given the absence of windows, the designer recommended a white ceiling and floor to illuminate the room. Installing a large mirror also helped reflect light while visually enhancing the space.

After just 4 weeks of work, our customer is now enjoying the soothing, welcoming atmosphere. She finally feels more at ease in this flowing space, which boasts a large shower and well-thought-out storage. Our team is proud of this achievement.

8- Montréal: The discreet charm of a 1930s condo – Domus finalist

As soon as they bought their condominium, the new owners of this condo knew they had to redo the bathroom, and that it was going to be a bit of a problem. In fact, the underside of a staircase ran through the center of this small room, giving it an “L” shape. They turned to us for a turnkey project.

Remarkable old-world charm

Our design department understood the need to take advantage of the presence of the staircase to give the room an old-fashioned feel. We turned a “problem” into an “opportunity”. The architectural style was perfectly suited to the rest of the residence. The design of a room must take into account the whole of the dwelling if it is to be well integrated.
It’s always a good idea for homeowners to consult us as soon as they purchase their property, so that we can guide them through the logical renovation steps.

9- Saint-Lambert: A bright, spacious bathroom

At our customers’ request, this bathroom with adjacent laundry room was designed to maximize the presence of natural light. The windows have been enlarged, and the choice of white materials accentuates the luminous effect.

A touch of wood for warmth

Too much white can make a room feel cold and impersonal. For this bathroom renovation project, we suggested combining white with wood cabinetry for its warmth and personality. The vertical central cabinet and the horizontal wooden countertop create a dynamic of volumes that respond to each other in the space, while at the same time being very practical.

As a design and build team, we’re very pleased with this simple, chic and contemporary result. Beauty is often in simplicity.

10- Mont-Royal: The WOW! effect in the bathroom

With the proliferation of glass showers on the market, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to create a “WOW” effect in a bathroom.

The challenge: staying on budget

The owners asked us to renovate two of the bathrooms in this cottage. They gave us a complete mandate, from needs analysis to design and implementation. They were looking for a bathroom concept that was both modern and warm.

A close collaboration between our design and estimating departments enabled us to complete the project on budget.

11- Laval: Saying goodbye to acrylic showers

The acrylic shower and the podium bath are the symbols of 1980s bathrooms. The standard acrylic shower has the drawback of being relatively small and having a slippery floor. Our customer wanted a larger, more stylish shower for his bathroom renovation project.

A glass and ceramic shower

Unlike prefabricated acrylic showers, the ceramic shower with glass panels allows you to create the shape you want, according to the space available. Its ceramic floor is laid on a waterproof membrane. It blends aesthetically into the bathroom and often becomes its focal point.
The bathroom now has a totally different look, in keeping with the image its owner desired.

12- Petite Patrie: Beauty and efficiency in simplicity

The possibilities for transforming existing bathrooms are often dictated by their existing walls and adjacent rooms. Despite these constraints, the appearance of a standard bathroom can be completely transformed while retaining a simple, effective design.

A standard layout, but warm

In this residence, we were tasked with renovating two bathrooms. We maintained the standard linear layout, finishing the bathroom with a ceramic shower featuring a fixed tempered glass panel. This design eliminates the need for a shower curtain. A large horizontal mirror creates the illusion of a more spacious area.

This bathroom, both simple and functional, proves that a luxurious look can be achieved on a limited budget.
